Auckland Explorer Bus’ Unveils First All-Electric Sightseeing Bus

Auckland Explorer Bus is proud to introduce the first open-top, double-decker, electric bus in New Zealand, demonstrating the company’s dedication to sustainable tourism.

Auckland Explorer Bus, owned by Entrada Travel Group, provides passengers with the iconic hop-on hop-off sightseeing tour of Auckland City. The new vehicle offers passengers a zero-emissions travel experience and a more comfortable ride by being smoother and quieter.

The eye-catching bright blue and yellow Auckland Explorer Bus took its maiden journey on Friday 23rd January and from 28th January will enter full-time service.

The new bus is owned and operated by New Zealand, family owned Tranzit Group, a long-term fleet partner of Entrada Travel Group. This partnership supports Entrada Travel Group’s sustainability goals, with Tranzit Group having introduced electric bus technology into New Zealand in 2018 and since, continued to transition and grow its electric bus fleet and charging network throughout the North Island.

The three-axle electric Auckland Explorer Bus was designed by Tranzit Group’s team of specialists. It has 508kW of CATL batteries that provide more than 330km of range on a single charge.

In 2023, Entrada Travel Group signed the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment, a programme aimed for New Zealand to lead the world in sustainable tourism. Since then, Entrada have committed to modernising its fleet, transitioning to lower-emission vehicles across the business.
