October, 2025

Entrada Travel Group today announced that after 12 years at the helm, Chief Executive John Thorburn will step down from his role on 31 March 2026.
Thorburn has steered the Company through a period of remarkable transformation and resilience. Under his leadership, Entrada expanded from its InterCity network origins into a diversified, trans-Tasman transport and tourism group, including the acquisition of Greyhound Australia, while navigating the significant challenges faced by the travel and tourism sectors in recent years.
Entrada Travel Group Chair Paul Bingham said the Board was deeply grateful for John’s leadership, vision and enduring commitment.
“John’s tenure has been defined by strong growth, resilience and integrity. He’s led Entrada through a most challenging chapter with clarity and purpose, and positioned the business for a bright future,” Paul said.
“We’re thankful for his ongoing contribution and his commitment to remain through to March 2026, ensuring stability and a seamless leadership transition.”
Thorburn said it had been a privilege to lead Entrada through such defining years.
“This has been an extraordinary journey – one filled with challenge, growth and pride in what our people have achieved together,” Thorburn said.
“We’ve grown our network, diversified our operations and shown the kind of heart and grit that defines Entrada. I’m especially grateful to our team, who have been loyal and the driving force behind everything we’ve accomplished.”
“I’d also like to thank our Board and shareholders for their trust and support, and for giving me the opportunity to lead a company that truly reflects the spirit of New Zealand enterprise.”
During his time at Entrada, Thorburn has also served as a Board member for Tourism New Zealand, where he helped promote New Zealand on the world stage.
Recruitment for the next Chief Executive will commence shortly to ensure a considered and smooth transition.
