InterCity Upgrades Its Fleet With Four New NZ-Made Buses
FEBRUARY, 2026

Auckland, New Zealand (February 5, 2026) – InterCity is pleased to announce that four new buses that will improve passenger comfort and safety will enter service this February.
InterCity, owned by Entrada Travel Group, connects passengers to over 600 destinations around the country. The buses will improve passenger comfort on long-haul routes between Auckland and Tauranga and between Auckland and Wellington.
Passengers will be able to enjoy a choice of GOLD premium leather seats that are equipped with ample legroom, reclining seatbacks, and USB charging points or standard seats that also recline and have USB charging points. Additionally, the new 12-speed gearbox will allow for smoother gear changes, improving the journey experience.
Sam Peate, Chief Operating Officer at InterCity, says, “Acquiring these new buses has been a significant investment for InterCity. Unlike other public transport operations, InterCity does not receive any form of funding or subsidy.”
“The investment in these coaches demonstrates InterCity’s commitment to giving commuters and tourists more options for long-distance transport,” says Peate.
The new vehicles have new driving safety features, including an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which helps reduce accidents with intelligent sensors. Other features include lane departure warnings and a Smart Dash digital cockpit display.
The buses were bodied in New Zealand by Kiwi Bus Builders and feature a simplified all-white livery. Two of the four buses will enter service for Waitangi weekend, with the remaining two joining service by the end of February.
