Celebrating One Year Onboard: Noosa North Shore Ferries Marks Milestone

July, 2025

One year ago today, a new chapter began for the Noosa North Shore Ferry service. Since taking over operations on 21st July 2024, Entrada Travel Group has been delivering major upgrades, new systems, and building strong ties with both the community and the local environment.

In just 12 months, the customer experience onboard the Noosa North Shore Ferry has been transformed with the introduction of a new digital and online ticketing system. Starting from cash-only transactions taken onboard, now over 80% of ferry tickets are sold through the website, or onboard transactions via EFTPOS, giving Noosa customers more convenient payment options and improving operational efficiency.

Another proud achievement has been the successful training and placement of two female ferry masters, who now work full-time on the Noosa North Shore route. This marks a significant step for Noosa North Shore Ferries in having greater gender diversity across the maritime industry.

In a newly signed agreement with a local reforestation and wildlife corridor project, Noosa North Shore Ferries will now offset 100% of its diesel emissions through the planting of approximately 500 native trees annually. This initiative supports local biodiversity and helps the flora and fauna flourish in a reserve just outside Noosa.
Noosa Council CEO Larry Sengstock said the Noosa North Shore Ferry service had demonstrated a strong commitment to service excellence, innovation and sustainability in its first year of operation.

“Entrada Travel Group has a proven track record in ferry operations in Australia and New Zealand, and since commencing operations of the Noosa North Shore Ferry service. The larger capacity of the new ferries allows more convenience and ultimately eases some of the congestion issues that are felt, especially during busy periods,” Mr Sengstock said. “We’re also extremely pleased to see local environmental priorities, digital improvements and inclusive employment embraced in a way that is enhancing visitor experience and sustainability in our shire.”

Both ferries, Cootharaba and Cooroibah, are operating dependably, and through the launch of a dedicated Noosa North Shore Ferries website and growing social media presence, the ferry service is aiming to help promote Noosa North Shore and its surrounds to both locals and visitors, highlighting the beauty and travel experiences the region offers.

“This first year has been all about building a strong foundation,” said Wade Hill, Noosa Ferry Manager. “We’re proud of the progress we’ve made and even more excited about what’s ahead. Big thank you to our crew and local community for your support over the year.”
